The 1796 Campaign is a bold call to action for The A.M.E. Zion Church community, rooted in our rich history since 1796. Through Securing Our Future, we commit to three essential priorities: Ensuring Legacy, Empowering Ministry, and Expanding Reach.

Ensuring Legacy calls us to preserve the historic church buildings entrusted to our care. These sanctuaries were built through sacrifice, faith, and resilience. As a foundational commitment of the 1796 Campaign, the first one million dollars raised will be designated to establish an endowment dedicated to the ongoing care, preservation, and restoration of our church buildings. By restoring and safeguarding these sacred spaces, we honor our grandparents and great-grandparents who established places of worship amid adversity, and we protect this inheritance for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Second, Empowering Ministry is an investment in the spiritual and practical strength of our denomination. By training preachers and lay leaders, we prepare those who serve to address today’s realities with wisdom, relevance, and courage, equipping the Church to “meet the moment” and minister effectively in an ever-changing world.

Third, Expanding Reach commits us to extending God’s word and The A.M.E. Zion presence into new communities across the United States and beyond. Through church planting, missions, and outreach, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we will enhance and expand Zion’s long, impactful legacy of liberation as we strategically spread the Gospel of Christ to bring hope, justice, and holistic freedom to all, especially to underserved areas, growing a global network of thriving A.M.E. Zion churches.
