Official Statement of The African Methodist Episcopal Zion International Music Ministry Regarding the Death of Maestro Richard Smallwood

“Brothers and Sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death.

With deep gratitude to God and heartfelt sympathy, we acknowledge the transition of Maestro Richard Smallwood. Even as we celebrate a life poured out in faithful service through music and ministry, we extend our sincere condolences to his family, the music industry, and all who loved and were impacted by the life and work of Richard Smallwood.

We honor and give thanks to God for the extraordinary musical legacy of Richard Smallwood, a master composer, worship leader, and devoted servant, whose music has shaped the sound of sacred praise across generations. Through inspired lyrics, rich classical training, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, his compositions have lifted hearts, strengthened faith, and drawn countless souls into deeper worship.
