“We Care” (Prayer Request because “We Care”)

Mr. Jerry L. McCombs

The Connectional Lay Council Chaplain serves as the chair of the We Care Committee to pray for the needs of our denomination and its members. The world is included in our daily prayers and prayers are lifted with the help of all 12 Episcopal regions on the second Tuesday of every month via conference call. Any member of the CLC in good standing is invited to be engaged in praying with members in their area who are going through challenges and may submit names to the Chaplain for the CLC Prayer List. Each Regional Director appoints a representative from their Episcopal District to serve on The CLC We Care Committee. The persons on this committee are expected to work closely with the Connectional Chaplain to support the following activities:

  • Report to the Chaplain major health challenges, birthdays and bereavement among the “official family” of Zion (Bishops, Missionary Supervisors, General Officers, i.e.) residing in their region for the CLC Chaplain to respond on behalf of the CLC Executive Board.
  • Notify and encourage the Region, Conference or District to establish We Care Committees to facilitate the sending of We Care cards (Sympathy, Birthdays, Encouragement, Get Well), as appropriate.
