Rev. L. Lynn Mitchell, a native of Rock Hill, SC, is the daughter of the late Jessie Chisholm and Maggie Peoples. Rev. Lynn is married to Bishop Daran H. Mitchell, and together they have one son, Rev. Caylen Mitchell, who is married to Alexis.

She is a proud graduate of Northwestern High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Winthrop University, as well as an MBA in Organizational Leadership from North Carolina Wesleyan University.

Professionally, Rev. Lynn has over 17 years of experience in marketing, additionally, she is the former Executive Director of Thrive High Point, a multi-million-dollar nonprofit organization. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role in expanding access to resources, capital, business support, and training for minority and women-owned businesses throughout the High Point community. Under her leadership, over 600 small businesses were supported, contributing to the development of a more inclusive economic system and fostering an entrepreneurial environment in the region. She currently serves as the Senior Consultant of Strategic Partnerships, with the National Institute of Minority and Economic Development, where she focuses on the development of supplier inclusion programs between Corporations and MWBEs in collaboration with the Durham and Raleigh Chambers of Commerce.

Deeply committed to community service, Rev. Lynn remains actively involved in various boards and organizations within Guilford County, including Leadership High Point and the MED Week committee.

Rev. Lynn has served as a vital part of the ministerial staff at churches in North Carolina and New York under the pastoral leadership of her husband, Dr. Daran H. Mitchell. Her ministry roles have included teaching and training those entering ministry, pre-marital counseling, serving as Minister to Women, and Coordinator of YAMS. Additionally, she has held leadership positions on the District, Conference, and Connectional levels, including Coordinator of Young Adult Missionaries, Secretary of Youth, Superintendent of BUDS, and Episcopal Health Coordinator for the Balm in Gilead.

Rev. Lynn is a Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women, NAACP, Minister’s Spouses & Widow(ers) Fellowship, and the Lay Council. She is also an active member of the Christian Education Department (ACE).

At the 52nd Quadrennial Session of the A.M.E. Zion General Conference, her husband, Bishop Daran H. Mitchell, was elected and consecrated as the 108th bishop in line of succession. He was assigned to the Midwest Episcopal District, which includes the Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, and Trinidad-Tobago Conferences. Bishop Mitchell appointed Rev. Lynn to serve as the Missionary Supervisor, a role she embraces with dedication, driven by her unwavering commitment to advancing the mission of Winning the World for Christ.
