NC Lay-Lead
Initiative
A regional program of the Flourishing Congregations Initiative, developed
in partnership with CCDA — the NC Lay-Lead Initiative equips A.M.E. Zion
faith leaders in North Carolina to lead their congregations as lay-led
anchor institutions for community development and collective impact.
Participants receive hands-on training in strategic planning, grant
readiness, community engagement, and sustainable partnership —
equipping them to respond to community needs with clarity,
coordination, and confidence.

Congregations
Initiative
The Flourishing Congregations Initiative (FCI) is VCDC's national flagship program, developed in partnership with the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) — equipping A.M.E. Zion congregations to become sustainable, lay-led anchor institutions for community development across Episcopal Areas.
"VCDC aims to serve as a trusted partner to congregations and leaders seeking to make a tangible, lasting impact in their local communities - grounded in faith, justice, and collective empowerment."
Through the FCI, participating congregations receive customized assessments, peer-learning cohorts, one-on-one technical assistance, and access to a national network of A.M.E. Zion churches committed to lay-led community development. CCDA's proven framework of relocation, reconciliation, and redistribution grounds every aspect of program design.
