Vision

The vision of the International President and Executive Board of Missionaries

In this new season of mission ministry for the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society, it is our time to fight for social justice, raise awareness for environmental stewardship, provide transformative service, and minister with agape love. Our quadrennial theme mandates that our priority is to carry out the Great Commission, which calls us to make disciples for Christ. We must be willing to “Go” to all nations; we must be willing to leave our comfort zones; and we must be willing to help those who may not look like us, talk like us, dress like us, or smell like us. Our theme further challenges us to expand our mission ministry to not only care for people, but to care for God’s earth. We must have a concern for the water that renews us; we must have a concern for the cleanliness and healthiness of the food that nourishes us; and we must have a concern for the condition of the air that sustains us. Thus, we will initiate ministries that will impact all areas of life: spiritually, financially, mentally, physically, and environmentally.

Our ministries must be intentional, yet impactful. When we intentionally feed the hungry, are we doing enough and ministering long enough to make an impact on hunger statistics? When we clothe the naked, and shelter the homeless, are we making an impact on omg poverty in the world? When we consider gender equality in the workplace, or consider how to make our cities and communities safer places to live, are we trying to make an impact not just locally, but globally, as well?

We must be ever mindful that The A.M.E. Zion Church is a global church, and no matter where we are, the missionaries of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society must reflect that #MissionsMatter.
